With the Civic Si FP, we're looking at essentially the same arguments we had for the RSX FP (now known as A-Spec) we tested last year. The main difference is that the Civic FP setup does not address the Si's somewhat meager brakes (nor does the production RSX A-Spec setup), and braking performance is only marginally improved due to the larger tires.

In terms of over the road performance, however, the FP offers very real benefits, with much higher cornering limits, less body roll, and even better acceleration (if only by a few tenths to 60mph). Styling is a purely subjective thing, so you may or may not like the aero add-ons, but for now, you'll have to live with them if you want any other part of the FP setup. At some point (supposedly once some significant portion of the development costs have been recouped) you may be able to purchase the components on an individual basis, but for now it's an all or nothing sort of deal.

FP is not for everybody. But for those who are looking for a carefully engineered upgrade to their Civic Si's suspension and a boost in style, the suggested retail price of $4000 will be money well spent.
