Things to consider replacing while everything is apart is the oil pump, the water pump, the timing belt and tensioner, all gaskets and maybe even the PVC check valve. At this time would be a good idea to upgrade the clutch if you haven't done so yet. It's also a good time to lighten and balance your flywheel. Lightening the flywheel will help the engine rev more quickly and freely. According to Marcus, lightening your flywheel 1 lbs is equivalent to lightening your car 50 lbs in other areas. A lighten and balanced flywheel should cost somewhere between $100-$200. You should not over look these thing!

The last thing I highly (and I mean highly) recommend is an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. You are breaking in a new engine with new piston rings. You ARE going to burn oil! And you can more easily stay on top of your oil level with a gauge in the cockpit of your car instead of popping the hood. Oil can burn off rather quickly, trust me, I know. GET THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. Autometer makes a nice gauge along with other companies. And it only costs $45!!

These are all the things you should consider when building your Mustang killer (ut-oh, how many of those Cyber-Tanks are going to want to race me for money now??). And remember, it's always better to be safer then sorry. Take it from someone who has been sorry on more then one occasion. Make sure it's done right!
