IL: Left Lane Despots to be fined(?)

The Illinois House of Representatives has just passed a bill that will potentially lead to fines for those annoying drivers that insist on clogging the left lane. Bill HB1574 specifies that the left lane is to be used only for overtaking slower vehicles, and not as a travel lane. A provision that initially prohibited traveling to the left of another vehicle for more than 1/2 mile was deleted with the first amendment to the bill. Following a 99-13 vote, the bill was passed on to the Illinois Senate on 27 March.

Hopefully this will fly through the Senate and lead to similar legislation nationwide, as it should lead to safer, more efficient travel.
