This may not be a first for Honda, but it certainly doesn't happen too often on the car side. According to the official webpage, Honda's exclusively inviting S2000 owners (and 1 guest) to a "space limited" event at American Honda's headquarters in Torrance, CA on September 8th from 10AM to 3PM. This free event is said to include:
- A 2008 S2000 CR on display
- BBQ lunch
- Giveaways
- Exclusive gathering of S2000 owners
As the owner of one of the first S2000s sold in the US, I say "better late than never!" While the S2000 is rapidly approaching 8 years on the streets here in the US, we're glad to see Honda actually reaching out to the hard-core fans of such a niche-market product. Let's hope this means they have big plans for a proper successor to the S2000.
Oh, and while free is always good, I'm thinking that if you're planning to attend this event, you may want to pack a sack lunch, just for backup, as good BBQ is more difficult to find in California than a genuine Civic Type R.
