It seems that rumors of the re-introduction of the Honda CRX never really die. Perhaps we're just getting a little jaded after doing this TOV thing for over 13 years, but it seems like every year or two, a rumor surfaces that Honda's bringing back the CRX in 18/24/36 months. Each time, there's a completely different twist, but nothing materializes within the time frame, and people lose hope. Then the cycle repeats.

Well, I guess it's been a year and a half or so since the last time somebody claimed the CRX was coming back, as we've been informed that recent buzz in the Japanese media indicates that Honda will be showing off a CRX in some shape or form at this year's Tokyo Motor Show in October. Our assumption is that if these rumors are true, whatever is shown will be a concept, since a concept doesn't necessarily commit Honda to production. With the seemingly endless stream of photoshopped Insight "CRXs" and more off the wall creations we've seen posted over the years, perhaps Honda really has been inspired to bring back their little sportster and figured that the time is finally right.

If there's an ounce of truth to this particular rumor, we can only hope that the new car carries on the true spirit of the CR-X, which is a combination of low mass, sporty drivetrain, and capable chassis - all wrapped in a fuel efficient and affordable package.

We will once again be covering the Tokyo Motor Show this year, so obviously we will keep you apprised of any developments in this ongoing saga.

We recently completed a road test involving a 2007 Acura TL Type-S, 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan, and of course, the Temple of VTEC Project Civic Si. We shot tons of video footage and lots of photography, and most of this week has been spent editing and encoding videos. We'll be driving a few other cars in the next few weeks, but we won't really be able to talk about those for a few months...
