Our day is done here at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. We finished it out with the Hyundai press conference (and cocktail reception) for their ambitious new V8 FR sedan - the Concept Genesis. Hyundai doesn't seem to be messing around with this car at all. The specs claim "well over 300hp" and 0-60 times of "well under 6.0 seconds" from its aluminum 'Tau' 4.6L 32-valve DOHC V-8 (92x87mm bore/stroke), which is hooked to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. The show car wears 20" 9-spoke wheels and features a 53:47 weight distribution sitting on a 5-link independent suspension design front and rear. The styling is safe but clean and the lines are crisp, with eye pleasing proportions and nice detail finishing. If the rumors of the starting price are true (under $30k to start, topping out at under $40k), Hyundai appears to already have a winner on its hands. The formula seems like a no brainer.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is the first Lambo to really grab my attention since I was 12. With a 5.0L V10 producing 530hp in an AWD package that weighs in at around 2900 lbs, you have to give some credit to the engineers in Sant'Agata Bolognese (or perhaps Ingolstadt?).

We missed the Lexus intro of the LX570 in the special events hall earlier this afternoon, so on one of our last stops, we went downstairs to see if it was in the Lexus truck display, but it wasn't there yet. While we were down there, we noticed the all new Highlander on display in the Toyota truck display. We must have walked past it 3 or 4 times earlier today without noticing it. It's not difficult to miss it.
