Light Truck Sales Set a New All-Time Record
TORRANCE, Calif. 12/01/2006 --
Fueled by demand for the all-new 2007 MDX luxury SUV, Acura posted record November sales of 17,200 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 15,532 set in 2004 and up 23.9 percent versus last year. Acura year-to-date sales reached 182,167 units, the division announced today.
Strong sales of the MDX and RDX sport utility vehicles helped set a new monthly record of 8,037 units for total light trucks, shattering the previous record of 6,238 set in 2004. The MDX luxury SUV set a new November sales record and posted its second best sales month ever, up 66.8 percent compared to 2005. MDX sales of 6,086 eclipsed the prior record of 5,124 set in 2004. Demand for the RDX entry premium SUV continued to grow, posting sales of 1,951 units.
"We knew demand for the redesigned MDX would be high because of its added performance, dynamic new styling and vast array of features and technology," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "These impressive early results give us great momentum as we head into December, a month during which we again anticipate strong sales."
The TSX sports sedan continued its brisk pace in 2006 with a November record of 2,463 units sold - nearly double last November's total - and bumping year-to-date TSX sales to 34,509 - up 8.4 percent versus a year ago.
