There had been some rumblings in the forums that the 2007 Honda S2000 was going to be available in the US in Imola Orange (previously only seen on the NSX). Jeff has confirmed with Honda product planners at the full line preview this week that this is NOT the case.
This is unfortunate since Imola Orange is one of the slickest colors to ever come out of a Honda paint shop. (See pictures here.) So if you were planning to trade-in your current S2000 or have been holding out for a new one in this color, we're sorry to have dashed your hopes!
The US S2000 colors for 2007 are:
Laguna Blue Pearl with black interior
New Formula Red with black interior
Grand Prix White with black/red interior
Rio Yellow Pearl with black interior
Berlina Black with black interior
Silverstone with black or black/red interior
Discontinued colors:
Sebring Silver
Suzuka Blue
Why isn't Imola Orange going to be available? This color is very expensive to produce and complex to apply. Because of this, only a small quantity is able to be offered globally. Since new S2000 colors generate a spike in demand that spans several months, Honda decided to cancel the color completely rather than be unable to meet demand and anger customers.
Imola Orange in Japan and other small markets works since it is sold for a considerable surcharge and, as a result, demand is lower.
