One of our readers recently received an alleged copy of the pre-order list for 2007 MDX accessories and it references a Hybrid model. What could this possibly mean?
Now if Acura springs a Hybrid version of the MDX this fall, it would run directly counter to remarks made by Takeo Fukui in an interview with Automotive News (see this forum thread for discussion). But what else could explain a trim level named "Hybrid"?
In other news, you might notice that cool heads prevailed and we are in fact going to be able to purchase gold emblems for our 2007 MDXs. Whew!
Disclaimer: We can't yet vouch for the authenticity of this pre-order sheet, but there is a pretty lengthy list of items complete with part numbers. Of course there's always the possibility that somebody took the document and added the "Sport/Hybrid" text - we're currently trying to track that down. So until we receive some confirmation from some of our dealer contacts, for now the credibilty rating is going to be set at 5.

UPDATE: Most Acura dealers I've spoken with have reported that they have heard of no plans for any hybrid Acuras, so until we hear some substantial evidence we're dropping this to a "1" on the credibility scale.
UPDATE 2: We now have further clarification that the "Hybrid" refers to some sort of "Hybrid" configuration of the running boards. What a confusing choice of terms. Consider this a dead rumor.
