Torrance, Calif. 12/01/2004 -- American Honda, boosted by record November sales of Acura models and Honda light trucks, reported total November sales of 95,524 units, an increase of 3.1 percent over last year's November results on a daily selling rate basis. American Honda year-to-date sales of 1,257,017 were also up 0.7 percent over previous year's result.
"It continues to be a very tight market, especially as consumers turn their attention to the holiday shopping season," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Hot products like our redesigned Odyssey and the all-new Acura RL are playing a big part in keeping us on track for another record year."
Honda Division sales of 79,992 saw an increase of 1.4 percent over last year on the strength of key models including the Civic and the all-new Odyssey minivan - up 5.9 percent and 22.1 percent, respectively - as well as record November sales of the Pilot SUV. Led by the Odyssey and Pilot, Honda light truck sales set a new November record of 36,852 SUVs and minivans, up 10.5 percent in November and 1.3 percent for the year-to-date. Honda Division year-to-date car and light truck sales of 1,078,244 are down 1.3 percent over the same period last year.
The company's Acura Division reported best-ever November sales of 15,532 luxury cars and light trucks, up 12.2 percent over year-ago results and bolstered by a new all-time record for the completely redesigned RL sedan and record November results for the TL sedan and MDX luxury sport-utility vehicle. Acura year-to-date sales rose 15.1 percent over last year's results to 178,773 cars and light trucks breaking last year's all-time sales record.
