As expected, the Civic underwent a Mid-Term revision, termed 'Minor Model Change' (MMC) by Honda for the Japanese Domestic Market. The MMC involves mainly exterior cosmetics involving the Civic (5door hatch), Civic Ferio (4door sedan) and Civic GX (Civic natural gas). The EP3 Civic Type-R remains unchanged.
The most significant change involves the deletion of the much loved Civic Ferio RS. The line-up now comprises mainly 1.5l SOHC VTEC (with the lean burn mode) and 1.7 SOHC VTEC (130ps) engines and in FF and 4WD layout. The Civic GX continues to use the 1.6l engine burning natural gas.
As usual, Honda leaves the best for the home market. The Civic 5door hatch now has a new variant the Civic XS which uses the excellent Multimatic transmission (HMM-S) but now fitted with the 7-speed sequential shifter mode as found on the Fit 1.5T. However the shifting is now via -paddles- fitted just behind the steering wheel, ala Ferrari F50 style !
No english translation yet but the official Honda site already has the update.
