We knew it wouldn't take long for spy photos of the 2023 Civic Type R to begin appearing in our inbox, and sure enough, SpyPix has come through with a set of what appears to be the same car that Honda shared with the world yesterday.
Below are the photos and text that were provided by SpyPix.
Fast and Furious!
Just yesterday Honda released two teaser photos of the next generation Civic Type R but we figured that you most likely wanted to see more than just two photos 😉
So we decided to go for a hunt and to track the Type R down before next week’s Industry pool at the Nürburgring. And as you can see we got lucky and could snap a few photos before the test drivers decided to call it a day.
Since it was teased its not that big deal for Honda but they still didn’t want us to make some more photos apparently.
Honda has also already confirmed that the new Type R will stay front-wheel-drive, get a six-speed manual gearbox and keep the turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder.
What also stayed for the new model are the three exhaust pipes in the middle of the four fin diffusor.
When hitting the dealers in 2022 the Honda Civic Type R will most likely have a small power bump compared to the current model meaning we are looking at 320-330 horsepower.
In order to be able to chase the Audi S3, the Hyundai i30N and the Golf R those figures are needed.
BTW, check out the camouflage foil closely and you see that it is actually full of small Type R’s. |
