We've now heard from several independent sources that Acura and Honda have slashed allocations for their dealers again, this time by 40%. Previously, allocations were reportedly cut by up to 70% in the prior 2 months, all blamed on the chip shortages caused by supply chain interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have reached out to American Honda for comment and will post their response if they choose to comment.
UPDATE: A Honda spokesman has responded to our query, saying that they do expect to cut allocation to some extent, "however, this is a fluid situation and we are not going to discuss the detailed impact to volume or specific models"
