Our friends at Spiedbilde have been busy shooting various prototypes over the weekend. Today their efforts have borne fruit. Behold, our first real look at the 10th generation Honda Accord. It's too bad there's so much baggage covering the exterior of the test vehicle, but it's probably the best we can hope for being so far out from production.
The following text is from Spiedbilde:
This is the next-generation Honda Accord, caught testing for the very first time.
Spotted testing with a large disguise, the 2018 Accord will get a new platform shared with the 2016 Civic, as Honda tries to reduce platform counts and expand use of modular pieces.
The next Accord could be slightly smaller externally than the outgoing model given that Honda no longer builds two different Accords for global sale. But it shouldn't shrink too much given that the Civic Sedan grew noticeably in its latest revision. Expect similar design elements from that design, but with a more upright profile.
Engines are likely to continue as refinements of existing units in the Accord, although a turbocharged four-cylinder is almost certainly to be offered while the V6 could be axed. Honda will also continue with a hybrid version, probably using the same powertrain in the 2017 Accord Hybrid.
The 2018 Accord should appear by fall 2017. |
