A new member ('thedailyrey') of our community page_number=1" target="_blank">posted this photo in our forums earlier today. According to his post, his girlfriend spotted it in traffic near Honda's main campus in Torrance. She wasn't sure what kind of Honda it was, so she snapped a photo to see if 'thedailyrey' could identify it.
It appears that perhaps this could be the "surprise" passenger car that John Mendel referred to a few weeks ago during the Honda Press Conference at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (see quote below).
Recall that several years ago, it was strongly rumored that the City would be joining the lineup as Honda nudges the Civic a bit larger and more upmarket (the upcoming 10th generation Civic will reportedly share its platform with the Accord.
This City has Honda's standard PR plates (California 3421) and appears to be full production spec. It's impossible to tell from the photo, but if this car is LHD, the odds are pretty good that this is the US-spec City that we've been expecting.
Excerpted Quote from John Mendel's 2015 NAIAS Speech
...This includes the all-new 2016 Honda HR-V crossover this spring, a new benchmark in a growing segment. Shortly after, we'll introduce an all-new Pilot SUV that will redefine what is possible with an 8-passenger mid-size SUV. And further ahead, a completely reengineered Ridgeline pickup. And we have some more excitement on the passenger car side of our lineup this year as well. So, watch this space. |
