Many have rumored that Honda was going to sell a MotoGP bike to the general public since the beginning of MotoGP in 2002. But like Bigfoot or the Chupacabra, proof that such a beast existed proved impossible to find, save for the odd patent drawing.
But now after Kawasaki unveiled their nutjob 300 horsepower H2R, and Yamaha brought out their aggressive new R1, Honda has finally stepped out of the shadows with their road-going MotoGP replica, the RC213V-S at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.
How much will this bike cost? What are the performance specs? What technology does it share with the full-on MotoGP prototype? Will this be used to race World Superbike?
There were virtually no answers to any burning questions about the RC213V-S, which may not mean anything since Honda tends to be tight-lipped about product plans. But it could also mean that this bike is not going to be on sale for a little while.
Either way, on the surface this thing looks very, very close to the RC213V that Marc Marquez just won back to back championships on. Meaning this is probably going to be quite expensive.
