My boyfriend bought me a DC Sports strut tower brace for my 98 Civic EX Coupe, and we have never installed one of these ... any tips on installation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have one myself, but from their site, it looks as though you remove the nuts (huh, huh) from the shock tower, line up the holes (huh, huh) on the bracket, slip it on there, and re-fasten the nuts. Should be pretty straight forward.

We have a lady here in the Forum, let's try and keep the crudeness to a minimum.

What do the nuts bolt to? Are these bolts loose so that they need to be held in place from the wheel well side? or are they part of the Shock itself? I wouldn't want to undo the nut and have the bolt drop down and then have to fish around to get it back together. Is there also a Torque level that they should be re-tightened to? These would be helpful answers.

A link to any directions or scanned and e-mailed instructions would also help out.
(I'm assuming that all Braces are basically the same and the directions shouldn't differ from one to the other so instructions for any brace should work.)

I put an Arospeed bar on my brothers Neon (yeah, I know, try not to laugh). At any rate, it also did not come with instructions. All I did was line up the holes on the bar brackets to the bolts on the shock tower, and undo only the nuts necessary (I think it was only two of the four or something like that). The bolts should not fall out. Take your time, and do it one side at a time, just in case something bad happens. I would imagine since the wheels are on the ground, the force would keep the shock, and hence, the bolts, in place.

Incidentally, there are some braces that you need to drill holes for, but most are simple bolt on jobs. I agree that regardless of how simple an installation is, you really should get some sort of directions with the product. It could be worse, you could have gotten some furniture from IKEA. Man, those directions suck, but at least the furniture is pretty good quality!
