When can you hear the wild cam?

Almost landed a test drive, but I will have to wait until the 24th like everyone else...

Looking at the curve... it's not even really a VTEC "jump" compared to the old one. It looks like there's a lot of wasted potential... certainly Honda could have sacrificed some "Smoothness" on the switchover point for even hotter cams and more torque+hp?

TOV, thanks for reminding us by comparing both engines. The old engine's plateau around 5-6000 is terrible. The new blue curve is much better. The feel of a VTEC kick is great, but not with a flat lull preceding it.

Not if they want to hit their target demographic. Luxury cars are SMOOTH, not slightly ragged to elicit a small amount of extra hp. The bump in the midrange is very useful in making Acura's case for improved luxury. I'd like to see the torque curve on the 5AT version, too.

Perhaps this change is needed if Honda wants Acura to be more of a "luxury" brand? I don't know, Acura's image has not been that good since its debut, compared with Lexus/BMW/etc. By making the curve smoother, it might make the car "feel more premium," if you know what I mean. I understand that for Honda enthusiasts, the VTEC switchover point is one of the best feelings of Honda, but on the other hand we must also understand why Honda has to do this for now.

makes you wonder which focus groups they were listening to while developing the new car, probably the people that were cross-shopping and opted NOT to get a TSX. because by now its obvious what the Acura exec's were going for with the new TSX.

lets hope for a K23 powered Type S sans SH-AWD!!

hm....to me, this sounds like a 03-06 Accord 4cyl but as the rpms rise, it's starting to sound like a 06-08 Si. is it just me? or can someone echo that?

Speaking of sound, is that the dreaded (by me at least) rev hang I hear when rowing through the gears to hit the limiter?
