I am looking at either used tsx or s2000 and was wondering if there is certain areas i should look for potential problems or what to look for in features certain years. I definately would like to get 2006 or newer tsx for the upgrades and 2005 or order s2000 for cable throttle. Are there anything else i should look into? thanks

The posts above pretty much say it all. The biggest complaint about TSX other than torque.. is rattle. That's how it gets the nickname "TorqulesS rattle boX..." lol

Front door window, steering wheel column, windshielf, sunroof, B-pillar, glove box are the most likely areas where rattles develop. However, you can't really avoid. I feel rattles develop over time. For example, my car has been having window and steering wheel column rattles. The wheel column kind of disappear recently, but the car picks up the B-pillar rattle, which is more annoying than the other two.
However, the only problem with rattles is they make the car feel cheap... otherwise they are minor issue.

The other thing you might check is the OEM battery. Many people say that the OEM one is weak so you might want to check the condition of the battery when you get the car.

Other than these, I cannot think of any consistent pattern of problem espeically mechanical one that is talked about for 06+ TSX on forums.

It's on 04 TSX...

However, you can buy AcuraCare for cars under 49K, used or not. Figuring in the roadside assistance, the extended warrenty is a steal and covers ac compressor among many other mechanical parts.

I have an 04 tsx

Yup it rattles like crazy, but I don't think u can fix em.
I also suspect when the tint people took off the panels, they broke things when they put the panels back, so I would never tint a car again. No matter how good they claim to be.

The OEM batter was garbage and died in like 1 year, and I had to buy a better one.

And yes the AC comp did die on mine, but I got a new one under warranty and it's fine now.

The nav lights also failed, so they gave me a whole new unit, all under warranty. The 100K warranty was the best thing I ever bought.

And the rotors warped 3 times under 25K miles, and they fixed em each time (like 1000 miles apart). Finally that was fixed too and I haven't touched them again (95K miles now)

err.. so much for Honda reliability.

Why did they need to take the door panels off to tint the windows?

They dont take off door panels to tint. The window tint is pre-shunk on the outside of the window to fit perfectly before it is applied to the inside of the window...Jesse

WEll my idiots took off the door panels so they can do the tint on the glass below the door panels.

I guess they didn't know what they were doing, and neither did I.
Ugh.

I have 63k on my TSX, late '04 VIN. Eibach springs, no rattles other than the door panels when the bass level on the radio is set too high.

My leather and carpet look crappy, but then I have the light tan interior and what do you expect.

I had a door lock actuator that crapped out, and the brake rotors are perpetually crappy. Car needs a new battery, other than that it's been flawless. Typical Acura.
