I wish there would be but I'm not sure I'd count on it. It seems like Honda/Acura aren't exactly committed to MTs on their bigger powered vehicles in the first place, and with the torque generated by the 2.3T delivering it through the AWD mechanism, it would'nt surprise me if they decided to forgo developing a larger capacity transmission in favor of going with a "next gen" design like a DSG or something. By the way, I've not heard any meaningful confirmations that there are DSGs in the works at Honda, at least for Acura models - I'm just trying to think logically about how Acura might approach it.

BMW and Audi offer manuals on quite a few of their models, even high-powered, AWD ones. Acura should follow them if they want to have a serious sporty image.

I'm not saying I don't think the need it, I'm just looking back at their previous patterns and projecting how they might rationalize it. Just think about the dilemma they faced with the whole "we don't have a non-FWD car" thing. Instead of simply offering an FR platform, they apparently thought "hey, why not kill two birds with one stone and just jump straight to AWD!!". Again, I don't think that was the appropriate approach, but that's what they did. So it wouldn't surprise me if they did something similar in response to the "we don't have a 6AT"/"we don't have a 6MT that can handle the torque" dilemma.

I could see a 6 speed DSG gearbox being a great addition for Acura. It would differentiate it more from Honda, and would do just as good as a manual in showing their sporting credentials. I do like how BMW offers manual shifters on many of their models; a manual gearbox gives a completely different driving experience that no automatic could replicate. If Honda is unable to incorporate a manual gearbox with SH-AWD, then a DSG would be a good compromise.

I would say it would be a better compromise than "sport shift". I'm not ready to call it a GOOD compromise until I drive it and figure out what the actual compromises are.

I don't think so. Apparently Mitsu with their new Evo and potentially Subaru with their STi don't think so either

What r u talking about? Both the upcoming Evo and the STi will still be available with a manual. DSG will be an option NOT a replacement.

The Evo X comes in two trims: GSR and MR. Like this new TSX (if all info is correct), the base GSR makes do with a 5MT, whereas their top level EVO X MR gets a Twin-clutch SST (dual clutch transmission). If you want the higher performance Evo with Bilstein shocks, better wheels and better performance, that's the MR.

Three trims, there's also a stripper RS model. Although its a Japanese Model only for now, I'm sure its only a matter of time before it comes to the states as well as the MT option for the MR.
