I have a gen 4 Ipod and plan to use with my 2007 Civic Si (delivery pending in December).

Can someone tell me (from actual experience) if the Music Link accessory is worth the $180 (or so)?

What difference, other than charging the Ipod battery, does the Music Link accessory offer over plugging my Ipod into the AUX jack?

Thx.

Non Navi Si - Music Link sucks, it does not show you the names of the song, albumn etc on screen. Choosing a song or albumn works by a monotone woman saying her abc's and you choosing from there. Not the greatest innovation but deal with it bc I got it as a gift.

Sound quality is very nice but the overall navigation of it sucks big time. I have seen other ipod accesories using the AUX jack and cig lighter together. I am waiting for a TomTom.

Thx for letting me know. I'm not going to bother with the Music Link...seems pricey too. I'll just burn music to CDR's and play them in the stock stereo or plug my Ipod into the AUX jack.

Actually, the reason that MusicLink is temporarily suspended is because the TTS (text to speech) software is incompatible with the latest version of iTunes (7). The latest version of the TTS software is available at Honda's MusicLink website (http://musiclink.honda.com) but it's not been distributed to dealers yet.

Granted, it's not the greatest interface AT ALL, but it does provide a direct, digital connection to most iPods and allows them to be controlled by the head unit/steering wheel controls.

In the case of an Si buyer (or any car with an aux. input jack), I recommend attaching it to the aux. in and using the iPod itself to navigate and display playlists as the iPod functionality is MUCH better than musicLink.

Buy it if you want the digital connection, but it's not really worth it in a vehicle that already has an aux. in.

Good feedback...I will pass on the music link.
What are your thoughts on the stock (non Nav) stereo. My SI hasn't been delivered yet, so I only had a cursory listen...and it sounded pretty good to my ear at the dealership.

I have an 02 RSX now and had to upgrade the stereo to something better....am I gonna get the itch to upgrade the stock SI unit?

BTW....I'm not the overly picky automotive stereo type....

Well, I think the stereo's pretty damn good, but I'm not the picky car stereo type either. All new Si cars have the same 350-watt system with a subwoofer mounted at the center of the parcel shelf (behind the back seat) and it pretty much rocks. All NAVI adds is XM and the digital audio card reader (and a better interface to it all).

I don't recall how the RSX stereo was set up. Was it only the Type S that has the subwoofer in the back? At any rate, the Si stereo's pretty damn good (I don't have mine yet either.)

Yes. And Bose is overrated anyway, the system in the Si sounds better.

It is a base RSX (in Canada knows as Premium cuz it was base + leather)...but the base was missing the Type S subwoofer which was mounted in the spare tire (well that, + an extra gear, better brakes, and +40 hp). The stereo was tres lame in the RSX.

Glad to know the stock SI unit won't dissapoint. Thx.

"The stereo was tres lame in the RSX."

I always had a few complaints about Honda (never enough to keep me from buying one) one of which was the stereos. Always just plain mediocre. They've come around, AFAIC and are making a tres decent system now. Not audiophile or street tuner challenge or anything, but it doesn't suck.

But I don't know how your ears hear, so YMMV!
