Is this a reasonable goal for S/C + I/H/E (but keeping the cat)?
I'd love to be able to run with my friend's 1999 Dinan 328ci
Thanks,
Chris

if you're planning to keep the cat, then you might as well just keep your stock header.

how restrictive is the 06 SI's stock header? You don't think there will be any worthwhile power gains from the comptech shorty header?

I am not sure about ~5sec 0-60 on street tires.

It is just tough to get into low 5s on street tires and FWD. Power is not the issue traction is.

Now better tires (not street ones) and you'll be able to do it. Also once you get traction I would think that you'll pass your friend unless he has more then 300-350hp in his car.

Also, I am not sure about SC, it will give you power, but also compromise your traction on street tires anyway...
And for some reason (gearing) Honda's with SC are just not as impressive as their power numbers suggest...

I don't think he's talking about low 5's, I think he just means sub 6 second. like 5.8 or 5.9.

That's exactly what I mean. I'm hoping for high 5's.

I would think new tires could get you sub 6 second times alone. Add an intake and hondata reflash and you'd almost certainly be there. S/C would put you deep into the 5's as long as you have tires that can put it down in 1st gear.

Thanks 99. Quick question. Do you think the summer tires will provide that kind of grip, or would I need even better tires? Do I need wider wheels than stock?
Thanks again,
Chris

If you keep your stock tires with the S/C you won't get much faster in 1st gear than you are right now (maybe a little faster towards the top of 1st). Our cars stock have almost too much hp for the tires in 1st gear as it is. That said, 2nd gear would be much faster with the S/C and the stock tires would be fine.

The only reason to buy new tires would be so that you could really launch the car hard, if you don't plan on getting every last pony out of your S/C in first don't bother with new tires. If you're planning on taking the car to the track than you'll definitely want new meats.

i think my first mod will be a set of falken azenis...mmmmmm gumballs for your rims haha

i think with some sticky rubber and a good driver who can really modulate the clutch/throttle you will be in the 5's

you'll get about 1-3 hp gain with the shorty header.
