Just read the article in Motor Trend at the local book store. They liked how racey feeling the Si was compared to the more civil GTI. Both were within .2 second of each other all the way to 100mph, the GTI edging out the Si. They tested the Si with summer tires and the GTI with all-seasons. Both cars are great.

Meh, this has been an endless discussion over and over again. I really think it comes down to personnal preference with needs and wants. I think both cars are great.

Agreed! Hell, if it were within my means, I'd be more than happy to have one of each in my driveway. What better way to appreciate the differences between the two than to drive them both?

agreed... i was honestly thinking that if i get the si paid off as quickly as i hope to, i'll be scouring the VW lots for a mildly used one...

but it might not work that way, which is why i'm going with si as my purchase.

The VW boards are busy celebrating another Road and Track GTI win at the moment, at least, I think it was Road and Track.

Soon, they will catch wind of this, and Motor Trend will simply be written off as stupid, biased garbage that obviously missed the GTI = GOD memo.

Come on Slowride, you know exactly what happened over there. I shot back at any biased GTI comments just as much as I shot at the Edmunds editor and you know very well I didn't do it because the Si won. We're not as bad as you think, well at least that's the way I feel.

And I have no idea why they dug up the Car & Driver comparo, it's been discussed before and it's old, which is why I didn't bother to say anything in it. There is always gonna be people that think they have the hottest shit in the world though, not much to do to change that since it's human nature.

I made it as clear as possible that I think the Si deserves the win but not in the way the Edmunds editor presented it, but I guess in the end I still come off as a brainless fanb0i because I chose to say something that I thought and I just happened to own the GTI rather than the Si.

I'm not gonna participating in any other GTI vs. Si debates in the future, it's just pointless. But bias doesn't only exist in the VW forums, it happens in the Honda camp as well as any other ones.

Oh this is KharatosGTI btw. =)

x2, actually I wish I could have all the competitor cars and drive a different one everyday, that'll make me happy.
