Sad state of affairs in the US car industry.
Nothing new.
Boring uninspired design.
sleepy performance.
I am seriously looking at the Dodge Charger SRT 8
when I say US auto industry I mean anyone that sells cars to the USDM. Import or Domestic or manufactured domestically import or whatever.
Thay all need a kick in the ass.

Obviously, you are in the wrong business. You should be out there leading the way with research, development and design of the automotive product to make it better. Remember that it is easier to criticize than to create, to tear down than to build.

It is a free country and we have freedom of speech but what we forget is that freedom comes responsibility. So unless you can offer constructive critique, why not keep it to yourself?

Dodge Charger SRT8... talk about an uninspired design.
Drawing from design years ago is hardly imaginative and insprining.
Shoving big old V8's into a smallish car is not really advancements either now is it? They did that 30-40 years ago.

However, the RDX seems to be packed full of some of the newer inspirations...

It owuld seem to me that really all you want is a powerful car that goes fast in the straight line, judging by the choice of car you want. If that's the case, and old mustang and/or camaro are pretty inexpensive to get big power, and can be drifted as well...

RDX has what, thats new technology
Are you the guys that want the CRX to come back!
hey all I am saying is that besides the Si right now there is nothing to get excited about.
I love Hondas and right now I am getting a 92 accord
thats a classic awesome design.
low, clean, squared, but smooth
AND most everything on that car is on the current model
a little more HP a few more airbags but thats basically it!
And its not only Honda, its the current CA designers and detroit designers that are riding their own ego trip about being car designers. all they did was go to some ITT tech drafting school and talked their way into designing some old hacked concept that got them in the door.
oh well that might be 3 or 4 cents

Yep. Not much to get excited about here. If this was 2002 I'd say woo-hooo! - but it's not.
But then I think Honda's most important innovation in my eyes would be to not have paint that falls of or explodes on impact...

BTW, I guy down the street has an all black Charger SRT8 - badass! Hell, the Crossfire is a looker, too! But I'm not 45 yet.

One HUGE difference (since I don't feel like nitpicking at the moment) between the '92 Accord and, say, a '06 Accord is SAFETY. The structure of the new Accord will survive a crash far better than that of the '92. That's a bit comforting considering all the SUVs running around these days with clueless drivers.

No I don't want the CRX to come back. I had one and as much as I love it, I don't want THE CRX to come back. My life has progress to the point where a two seater hatch back does not fit my needs.

Design is subjective. I'm glad you enjoy box on wheels... you should get together with some of my friends. They too love boxes on wheels.

There are plenty of things to be excited about in Honda. While you might not dig the external designs/shapes of the new honda, the fact is the direction they are going is very exciting. A factory turbo honda engine... I mean seriously, who would have guessed this 2 years ago? An award winning Honda diesel engine, again, wow. SH-AWD, in the right application will be amazing. I can just see the SH-AWD in the next halo sports car with a powerful powerful engine making a big statement, just watch.

Honda is also taking a lot of risks in design lately. In the past, all the cars were universally agreed to be non offensive. Now the new cars are much more daring causing lots of "love it" or "hate it" responses.

It's obvious that over all, Honda isn't donig a bad job. Otherwise, why do their sales number keep going up, profit margin keep rising, and stock pricing continue to climb?

Because they are appealling to the masses! Its called selling out! The safer the design the more people your product will appeal to. That is a standard business decision. Do we stay in our niche or do we go the safe way and have designs that the average joe will feel like wont embarass him.

Try driving a 500 hp evo and watch the peoples looks on their faces when the blow off hits and they jump out of their shoes! awesome oh and the brick wall pushing your chest in so you cant breath during full throttle acceleration. Thats not safe. are you telling me Honda cant make something like that?

And when we all thought that GM is dead, Bob Lutz reveals the kick in the ass in automotive design the car industry has been looking for -- the next generation CTS. I have never seen sheet metal so striking and modern, you know, like the car was built in the 21 Century. There is a CBS video clip on Edmunds. I expect to see this kind of design theme on the next Acura TL.

we, meaning I, dont think one car is going to revitalize the company or the industry. The super V cts is just the same car once again with a lot of HP. big deal. I can do that in my garage. Its 2006 people, i know its silly but what about my flying car! They dont need to think outside the box the designers need to burn the box along with all their old stale clay models too!

I love the Charger SRT8 below. If only I could order one as a weekend car at sticker price. But no such luck here. The dealers in my neck of the woods wan'ts 10K over sticker for each model that hits their dealership.
