need more BASS for my accord    (Score: 1, Normal) 03-25-2006 22:40

Hi Guys,

I purchased a 2006 Honda Accord EX Sedan 3 months back. It's my first car and I love it.

I love everything about the car except that the stock system (6 CD changer) lacks BASS. I am thinking of purchasing an Infinity BassLink from Amazon merchant store (comes to around $206 shipped). Read a lot of good reviews about this.

I listen to mostly rock and metal and do not need the heavy thumping BASS. How is this system for BASS?

I want to try and install this system myself since I want to learn doing such things. How easy is it to install? What is the best location to install it in?

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thank You.

I am a big fan of Infinity's stuff. I've used both the Referenc and Kappa Components and subs in my cars and have always had clear, quality sound. My wife and I have been looking into the Basslink and have read many good things as well.

You'll need to run a wire (4 or 8 guage should be fine) from the battery to the trunk for the sub and I would recommend placing the sub in a corner for best sound and also for least space taken up. Make sure to check for Trunklid clearance (from both the trunk and the hinges). You'll need to tap off of the rear speaker wires for signal since there is no preamp outputs on the head unit itself. You'll also want to run a wire at the same time for a remote turn-on lead and connect it to a switched 12v connection (I've used the Cigarette Lighter connection successfully many times)

Good luck, enjoy, and let us know how it sounds.

as I've said a few times before, in my opinion your beet off getting a component setup (sub, box and amp) as opposed to the all in one. personally I like infinity's speakers, but their amps SUCK. (I've gone through 2 infinity powered subwoofers in my home theater in under a year, needlees to say, I'll NEVER buy a powered ANYTHING form them again, the amps don't hold up at all.) I've read similiar problems with the bass link. and for what you get they are pricey (can do a decent component subwoofer either a 10" or 12" for about the same price, which much better sound) just my 2 cents. I'm a rock listener myself, and it's not about having hue bass you can hear 2 blocks away, it's about hearing all thsoe low notes that are on the soundtrack. the basslink uses a 10, so if you used a 10 or 12" sub you'd be much happier.

as far as install, it's not complicatd, just takes time. run a power wire from the positive on teh battery, through teh firewall, and (typically) under your door pannel, and snake that back to where the sub/amp are. then you can get adaptors and split the rear speaker inputs and run a set to your amp. (also one reason I recommended the pioneer premier GM7150 is that it has speaker level inputs, meaning you don't need a line level converter to use RCA's, which in my opinion robs sound quality.)
