Yep... a well done five door hatch, even if ( or perhaps better if ) it used a set of small suicide rear doors ala Element would be great IMHO.

Sometimes I look at our EP3 and I visualize a pair of small, one foot long rear doors and realize how easy they would make access the back seat. My kids have no problem getting back there, but the seat is big enough for adults up to 5'9" to sit there, and two door coupes are a hassle. Even stretching the wheelbase four inches might work nice too.

My first Integra was a five door, and it was one of the most useful little cars we've ever owned. However, the long, sloping hatch limited the usefulness of the back end and it had a high lift over. Ditto with the GSR and RSX-S. But a Kammback back end, with a discreet wing to direct air and rain away from the back window is IMHO the most useful design.

And if it costs less than $24K, has 200bhp, MT6/AT5, ABS, VCM, 16 alloys, and it says Si... count us in.... ;-)

Did you correlate age group with body style? I'd figure younger folks might like the coupe better. While those of us with kids who do need the back seat might have gone for the hatch or sedan.

Tony, you have given me an idea for my next poll 'project'. Let me bug Jeff first and see if we can get our own poll module properly done. If not I'll try to see if some of those popular 'freeware' poll modules can be installed and used direct from TOVA itself. I would rather not use Bravenet again after getting a number of complaints about people not being able to access the poll. This next one will be more 'universal', targetted at the general enthusiast.

The car you just described sounds very much like Mazda 3 =)

I actually prefer the looks of the Mazda 6 wagon over anything in the Mazda 3 line up. The 3 has "too many lines and curves" from the B pillar aft.

The EP3 hatch has pretty clean, straight lines from the A pillar back. Some call it a microvan because of that, but I think it would lend itself nicely to a three inch stretch, 20bhp more and a couple of half sized, suicide rear doors.

The 5-door hatch seesm to be the sweet spot for hatches. It would probably pick up some of the 3-door and wagon fans, maybe 25% of total sales?

I heard Kia expects that 20% of their Spectra sales will be Spectra5's, so this may not be too far off the mark. I'd definitely be interested!

That sounds like a pretty accurate description of the '06 Euro Civic! The doors aren't suicide, but look like they should be.

I wonder if Honda will offer it in the US, possibly as an Acura?

Any more news on the rumoured CRX?
