I have a 2004 Civic EX which I bought last June and I want to upgrade the sound system. I am trying to decide between the Clarion ProAudio VRX755DVD and the Kenwood KVT815DVD. Is it better to have a hideaway unit, like the Kenwood, or have it all built into the indash unit, like the Clarion? Also if I remove the compartment underneath the stock unit can I place a double din unit like the Kenwood DDX7015 in the dash? Thanks to all who respond.

I have looked at the Clarion vs. the Kenwood. I would normally pick Clarion due to the good things I have heard about them over the years. However, the Kenwood just seems to offer more features. But then again, that is the way it goes in life. For example, you can buy a base model Lexus for about 30k, or you can load up a Honda Accord for almost 30k. You might get more features overall on the Honda, but which is suppose to be better? The Kenwood offers more features, but the Clarion offers a 2 year warranty. When you are spending this kind of money, it is nice to know that the Clarion is gonna be under warranty 1 full year after the Kenwood's warranty expired. If you go with Kenwood, I would get the 715. I think the 815 will fit, but geez it is almost $2,000. Just think, your radio alone costs more than 10% of what your entire car cost new. You haven't even added all of your speakers and amps in to that cost. But if you have the money to spend, then get what you want. The 815 should fit. When you install any of these, I would get some kind of bolt added or something to secure it to the car. If you intall it with a simple install kit, it can be stolen in about 30 seconds. It will costs more to secire it, but it will most likely still be there if your car ever gets broken into. Good luck.
