I just got a 600 watt Rockford punch amp and 2 12'' 450 watt Pioneer IMPP subwookers installed in a sealed box in my 98 Acura Integra GSR. As i go to turn on my system I discover that one of the subs is clearly blown out. I bought evevything used and I dont think I will be able to get my money back or money for a new sub. Does nebody have ne suggestions on what i should do. The one sub that does work hits pretty hard. Should i try to find the same sub on Ebay and buy that used? Or should I just buy two new subs? Please help..All suggestions are invited.

What's Pioneer's warranty on the subs? You may be able to get it replaced for free. Otherwise, just buy a new one, as it's cheaper than two new ones.

I bought the subs used in a box so I dont have any warranty informatoin. The subs I have in there arent made anymore I dont think. Is it bad to have two different subs in a box? What should I buy or what should i do?

Call the manufacturer, if the cone has just been pulled off the magnet they can reattach it, usually for not much money. We did that for our blown Cerwin Vega 15, cost of $40, though this was a few years ago. If the voice coil has been damaged it's toast.

I'd probably purchase two new subs then. Two different subs in the same enclosure would have some odd results.

I generally recommend JL Audio. They're excellent subs and have several different lines to meet different price points.

Buy two new subs, Pioneer makes horrible subwoofers...except for maybe their Premier line. I suggest Digital Designs, Alpine, Memphis or ID subs. All are pretty good.

If you're on a low budget then the Alpine Type R is your sub. you can find them for $100 at www.ikesound.com .

JL makes a great sub as well, but are just WAY too overpriced for what you get.

The sub was BOUND to blow.

Are you sure you blew the sub and not the entire amp? I had a Punch 600a4 in my passport that pushed 2 JBL 12's. One sub blew, and I kept the other one going. When the other one blew, the amp was useless, as I'd fried the board from failing to disconnect the blown sub.

Watch it with Punch amps... They'll crack on you.

If I were you, I'd get an Alpine amp with Type E subs. The Alpine V12 series has digital amplification, and the Type E are budget conscious subwoofers that don't sacrifice performance!

Why get a Type-E when you can get a 12" Type-R for $100.
