This is going to be as polite as possible, but with making a point.

Why do you leave the NA market last - for almost everything? The FIT has been available for a few years now. You took away the Civic HB in 2000 and gave us a suped up Civic aka Prelude replacement in 2002. The entry+ market for hatches has taken off and you missed the boat. Oh, I will buy a Fit, but don't think I haven't been tempted. I actually leased a Civic to tide me over until you gave us the Fit (hopefully for '05).

Why do you not bring over the diesel engines? There is a market for them. Not everyone is convinced on the IMA system - especially at its cost. Here in Canada it is $8,000 more than an LX - that's a hell of a lot of gas. No wonder the Prius is kicking your ass up here. We need choices. The market is changing and you don't seem to be adapting very quickly.

I know you need to carefully mind your pennies and spend them wisely. What I suggest you do, is pay a market research company to talk to current Honda owners to find out what they would really want. LISTEN to what we, the NA market wants. We are your bread and butter. We are probably your most profitable marketplace. Please listen and I promise you that sales will go up!

You have to look at what Honda sells in Canada from a profitability perspective. Cars sold in Canada are sold at a lower profit margins than other countries to keep the price points down, so there's less incentive to introduce models there first. (Due to higher costs of living and taxes, lower wages, and a weak dollar) This would explain the $8,000 increase for the Hybrid, as there's no incentive to sell it a a reduced margin when they sell all they can make in the US. (Same w/ the Prius in the US, there are people who ordered 2004's and will get a 2005) This also helps to explain the limited number of options available vs. other markets.
Because of these lower price points, there have been a lot of people from the US buying cars in Canada and then bringing them back into the US. This has made the manufacturers very unhappy; alot of them won't honor warranties on such vehicles now, including Honda.
