Who would of thought that Rahal, who dumped Honda in their early openwheel days in America, would now win with a Honda powered car today. Life is sometimes stranger than fiction.

I just hope Honda signs a contract with Rahal stipulating that they cannot be advertised as an Indy 500 winner unless they state it was with Honda power. Wouldn't want Toyota to later sign Letterman Rahal Racing and state they powered the Indy 500 champs.

Let's not be too harsh on Rahal... he was the one who soldiered on with the original batch of Honda CART designs.. the ones that simply didn't win much...

Rahal was the "development team" and did a lot to lay the foundation for what was destined to be: Honda CART domination for umpteen years.

It was Rahal's misfortune that he decided to jump ship to Ford just when AHM released the new motor... the one that started winning. I'm sure Bobby was very chagrined about that.

So, in many ways, it was proper that Bobby won the Indy 500 with Hondapower. Other than Scott Goodyear, I can't think of a more deserving guy to win it this way.

Oh, The Toy Boat Works? Hmm.. the best they could do was what? 8th and 9th? Or something like that.... I don't think Toyota would dare do that trick again... they did it with Chip Ganassi, and I would dare say they tried to ride Penske's tails too.

I think I'll watch Letterman next monday night... I wonder if he'll wear a Powered by Honda hat? I wonder how many times he'll mention Honda?

Even lowly me thought it was only a matter of time.
We don't know the inner details like sponsor's demands, etc, but
I recall Rahal saying something related to his obligations to sponsors.
Rahal and the sponsors hurt themselves over the long term by not
showing patience and knowing that Honda's history suggests a strong
likelihood of future success. For one thing, think of how it would've
helped his Honda dealership's business.

Supplying Rahal's team is a good thing for Honda because his is one
of those valuable names in racing, just like Andretti, Penske...
However, Toyota might want to supply them, too. They seem to go where
Honda has been: Ganassi, Penske, F1...

Before Rahal, Parker Johnston and whatever team he
worked with did the first developmental work. I think he
was the first to compete with CART Honda engines.

As an aside: http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-message?message_id=197325

Cheers.
