228 lb-ft out of 3L is impressive, 16 lb-ft more than the 3L in the Accord. Where did this torque come from?

Yep.

Honda J-series V6 is turning out to be even more impressive than before. Accord V6 received accolades for pumping 240 horses and 212 lb.-ft smoothly, and efficiently. Then came around its I-VTEC (addition of VCM) version in JDM Inspire. That engine is rated at 250 HP and 218 lb.-ft. And now Elysion gets the engine to pump 250 HP and 228 lb.-ft! That is impressive. The compression ratio is up from 10.0:1 (Accord V6) to 11.2:1 (Elysion V6).

BTW, Saudi Arabia gets a 270 HP / 234 lb.-ft version of the J30A (in Accord), but I doubt it would qualify as ULEV/SULEV like the American Accord/Inspire/Elysion versions do.

Wow, thats nearly the same output as the 3.2 in the TL.

I have continued to be impressed by the potential of the J30, its just remarkable.

sounds like the 270 from the 3.0L NSX... only this one is SOHC instead of DOHC. Impressive.

the torque per liter is pretty much around the limits for honda engines.

Elysion: 228/3.0=76 lb.ft per liter
S2000: 153/2.0=76.5
360 Modena: 275/3.6=76.3

impressive indeed.

it's only 240hp NOT 270.. I know...I live in saudi arabia...
they use the SAE gross rating rather than the the net rating...

well, I think since Toyota and Nissan use it for their LS430 (they say 332hp or so, GS300.. 239hp) and Q45 (360hp+), maybe Honda thought I'd do THAT too!!!!!

Is the "UAE" market Accord is different from that sold in "Saudi Arabia"?

Wizard,
I believe all the features are the same..
I'm fairly certain tho that it's 240hp in the Emirates as well.

UAE's market gets some different cars like the old Euro R. not sure whether or not it was a special order.
it is some sort of an international market since the original/native citizens are a much fewer than non natives.

The link I provided earlier (and again, below) is official Honda-UAE link. It shows Accord V6 delivering 270 HP and 32.3 kg-m (234 lb.-ft).

yes, i did visit it. and that's why I said the features were the same here compared to that link.

here let me give u the hp## from the 2004 official saudi brochure[sp?]:
model_____net______gross
City______82_______89
Civic_____110______127 [1.5L]
_____130______150
Accord ____160_____173
_____240_____270
HRV _____105______121
CRV _____150_____ 173 [2.0L]
MRV _____240_____270 (Pilot in US)
Stream ____156_____179
Ody _____240_____ 270
Legend _____200 _____ -- (RL)

so, as u can see it's about pumping the ### up.

Nazeeh.

PS: all the hp # arrive at the same RPMs.

I looked up output for a Honda vehicles at the UAE website, and here it goes…
Legend: 3.5/V6 (200 HP)
Odyssey: 3.5/V6 (210 HP)
Accord: 3.0/V6 (270 HP)
Pilot (MRV): 3.5/V6 (240 HP)
S2000: 2.0/I-4 (247 HP)
Civic: 1.5/I-4 (110 HP)

S2000 is apparently using Japanese spec F20C (247 HP/161 lb.-ft). Odyssey did not get the power bump that it did in America for MY2003. Pilot gets the same output here and there (sold as MRV). Civic is using the 1.5/I-4 offered in JDM and European Jazz/Fit.

Only Accord’s output sticks out, while all others are normal. Does this mean Honda is quoting gross only for Accord and net for all other vehicles? May be Saudi brochures are different from Honda’s UAE website.
