Much like Lexus/Toyota's failed attempt with "L-tuned" (at least in its first iteration), I predict Honda will fall flat on its bootie with FP and A-spec.

Why?

Way too much $ and not enough bang for the buck.

$4,000 for a body kit (which adds weight and has only questionable effects on performance on US roads), and some minor changes that could be easily purchased aftermarket for a whole lot less money is just insane. I know, I know... you get a warranty. So what??? How many tuners that are putting blowers on their cars care about warrantees? Moreover, we all know that the kinds of changes that you're getting from Honda in your FP packages (+1 wheels, tires, minor suspension work and a body kit) have no impact on your warranty anyway.

Now if Honda wants to give us upgraded motors, etc. with a factory warranty (a la BMW's M or MB's AMG) then the price becomes justified (see the ITR as an excellent example).

I'm a dyed in the wool Honda fan who has owned 1 Legend Coupe LS, 2 Integra LS, 1 Integra GSR, 1 Civic EX, 1 CRV EX and 2 S2000's. I love Honda. But I think that Honda has lost its way a bit and while I love the new TSX and TL, I think Honda is letting Dodge, Subaru, Mitsubishi and others eat the cake that Honda spent decades baking.

I'm finally glad to see the Acura guys are stepping up. I love selling them again.

good points. Same sentiments echoed in today's Wall-Street Journal. Honda has seemed to have lost its way with the youth market (not that I'm young). Give us a lighter, tighter
Civic (or Accord, or RSX, etc.) with fewer creature comforts
for the same price as the base model.
