It seems so stupid, but I'm really genuinely upset about my car. I was driving to work this morning, travelling at a decent clip. It's really windy here today in the Philly area, but fairly clear. I'm driving along, and the next thing I know, a large sheet of what had to be heavy plastic or sheet metal comes flying at me. I can't swerve into the left lane, for fear of cutting someone off, so I have to take it. The f'er hit me driver's side front. I quickly pull off the highway to the shoulder to survey the damage.

I'm checking out the front, and the headlight is smashed pretty bad. Then I notice the gash taken out of the bumper next to the head light. Further inspection reveals a huge scuff/scratch, and a ding in the fender. I was almost moved to tears when I saw my Civic looking all gimp. I almost want to get rid of it now that it isn't 'whole' anymore. I was annoyed, too. I have no idea where the object came from, but I'm wagering it flew off a truck up the road a ways. My wife said if I knew for sure I could get them to fix it, but I didn't get a good glimpse of the truck.

So, now I suppose I'll wait and do battle with my insurance company. It's a shame it has to be that way, but we all know insurance companies aren't in business to help us. I've submitted my claim, and I guess all I can really hope for is that the damage will total more than my $1000 deductible. I'd imagine in parts and paint (all genuine Honda) it'll be close, so I'm figuring the labor will put it over the top.

Anyone out there think I'll be in the clear with the insurance company, or is it a lost cause?
