The tax credits actually served their purpose already- they incentivized OEMs to start selling BEVs to customers. Once the investment is made and they have sold 200K vehicles, why should the government keep footing the bill? The 2022 deadline is also somewhat arbitrary (though in line with incoming emissions regs) and is particularly unfriendly to any potential startups out there that still want to join in the game. I know the current name of the game is to distort the market by any means possible, but this doesn't really seem to make much sense.

The new scandal that's coming to light for Tesla is the fakery of their buillshit "Full Self Driving" feature. I hate to bring up the fact that I pointed this out as complete BS some 2 years ago, but there it is. Yet people still gladly handed over THOUSANDS of dollars of cold hard cash for a feature that didn't exist.

This company is a f'ing disaster.

CPD, the Republican Senator who proposed the extension is from Nevada (home of the Gigafactory) and is in a tough re-election race. Make sense now?

You're asking me to make sense of US politics?

I'm only discussing the practical implementations of the policies, not the logic of the people behind them.

lol. So basically they paid for a sensationalistic promise that never materialized. Cool. I guess it's a different mindset when you have so much disposable cash.

There are people who are 2/3 of the way through their lease terms and have been paying for this feature the full time.

Click "General Public" and treat yourself to parts and diagrams all things Tesla. Some interesting stuff in there.
