Just read this on NSXPrime from poster Mogami -

Japan Autosport Mag. wrote that Honda will have a FR NSX GT500 Racecar in 2020(Collins from Racecar Engineering states 2019).

To race in GT500 the race car must be sold to the public.

There will be more news from the SGT race this weekend.

I was told the upcoming Racecar Engineering Mag. will be a good read.

Is this you Rolled??

I can't imagine Honda changing the NSX from mid to front engine, so does this point to a FR coupe on the horizon for Honda [Acura]??

Would be weird with all the development of the NSX GT3 and the announcement that it will race globally for only a year and then replaced. My take if this is true is that this will be a pure Honda product, an S series most likely.

If Honda comes out with a S3000 I would be very excited, I've been wanting a new car and have been waiting for a S2000 successor. While it may not be as hardcore I'm sure Honda can make a great sportscar.

However, remembering the prototype FR NSX GT500 back a decade ago, I wonder if they are just doing the same thing here.

Well, all the signs points to there... new incoming 3L turbo engine, FR, Japan pride. The latter is why I suspect (again if true) is why we're getting an S series.

As much the NSX turns head when it was introduced, it doesn't have the heritage as rich as the S series. When Honda decided to enter the automobile market, the S series spearheaded the image of the brand. Even today I'm still astounded Honda skips several generation of the S series because it literally the brand that started Honda.

No. The rule mandated that every participating car needs to be production based OR production ready. That's the clause that allowed Honda to field the HSV-010 GT in 2010-2013. That FR NSX was built as technology demonstrator for the KERS component. The CR-Z racing that uses hybrid component was withdrawn in 2016 citing that the rules mandated the race car needs to have its engine in the same location as the production car, whereas the CR-Z was mid engine in the Super GT... I don't know how the Toyota Prius can still be allowed in Super GT with its engine placement on the back though.

The quote uses proper grammar and is too nuanced to be from Rolled.

The HSV would still fly today, and with a 3 litre TTV6 it could literally fly.

Wild speculation, under the SuperGT500 regulations of silhouette racers, could a FWD chassis with SH-AWD make a FR race car eligible. :) Position of engine remains the same just rotated 90deg. Gearbox would be bespoke race item, as would be the rear diff [or more likely transaxle]?

I know it would be disappointing for many enthusiasts not having a "true" FR chassis, but it would allow Honda to spread the cost of a new coupe chassis across mulitple "classes" of vehicle??

Sadlerau yes it is me.

Do remember the NSX-GT is built off the DTM FR Platform but I'm pretty sure the rules state the the engine must be in the same place as the production model(NSX is MR).

But there is still a strong rumor from Japan that they haven't given up on a S2000 replacement. The clues point to the Sport EV Concept(2T and FCEV over BEV) and it debuting at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. Side note.......WEC/ACO plans are Hydrogen Power for Le Mans 24 in 2024.

Do they make Blue NSXs in Norway?

Now, think about it... a fuel cell race car would mostly be a Big Tank with wheels, electric motors, a fuel cell, a seat, a wiper, steering wheel and a body around it.

A Big Tank.

How heavy are the tanks in the Clarity? Both tanks yield about 5.75 Kg....

A Big Heavy Tank with Wheels.

Now, I love my FCEV, but I like LOUD race cars, LOUD enough that I gotta use ear plugs.

Will they put Big Loud Speakers the Big Heavy Tank with Wheels?
