I was snooping on cars.com and found these prices from Courtesy Acura. I canít tell if they are AWD or not, but it says 4A before the trim so maybe it is SH-AWD. There are a few that have a $400 delta and I canít figure out what that would be.

RDX $40,295
RDX Tech $43,495
RDX Aspec $46,495
RDX Advance $48,395

Sounds about right. Stopped by a dealership yesterday that had a 2019 with manufacturing plates on it to check out. Couldnít drive it, but got to start it and sit in it. It was an Advance package and they quoted me $50k.

Acura is crazy if they think they can get the same money for an RDX as BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC. We can debate all day long if the German cars or worth more, but in the consumers mind they are. Acura needs to be at least 10% under the GERMAN makes. A base X3 and GLC in awd are $42,000. You can add $8,000 of options and be at your 50K. If you look at the 5 year cost of ownership between the 2018 RDX and a Mercedes GLC, they are the same. Less depreciation on the GLC but higher repair costs. The base QX50 is $36,500 WITH better fuel economy. Too bad it has a cvt.

Also, if you added the A spec to the advance package it would be $51,395. If and when they bring out the Type S with the turbo 6, this will be a $60,000 car. A base X3 M40 is $54,200. One other thing that bothers me about Acuras packages is they bundle things that I think many of us do not car about. Navigation for one, this is so much better on your phone with apps like Waze. You can do more ala carte ordering with the german cars, such as leather etc. I will get off my high horse now, just dissapointed with the pricing.

Go back and look and the number and features for a base QX50. it starts at that price with a stripped down car. If you want a pa panoramic roof the price goes up to $40k. If you want the safety features it goes up to $48K and a loaded QX50 is $60K. This is a car that doesn't have a wireless charger, 4 way lumbar support and Apple Carpla and a CVT, which Infiniti should be ashamed of...

That is for 4WD vehicles. I think that is very competitive for what you get.

WHEN you compare base models of the 2018 RDX to the 2019, the 2018 with AWD and Acura Watch ( Standard in 2019) you are looking at $39,795 with destination. You would have to subtract about $1200 for the leather ( not in base 2019), net now $38,595. Add back $500 for the additional amount SHAWD is compared to standard AWD and you are at $39,195. If the 2019 pricing is whats in this thread, and includes destination($40,295 ), you are looking at a $1000 increase. Not bad, but you lost the V6 which is a more expensive engine to produce. Unfortunatly again, all turbo 4 does is increase the margins for the car companies. You may get a slight increase in city mileage and highway is stated as the same, but as we know real world mpg in a turbo is never what is stated. Its hard to stay out of the boost completely.

If those prices include destination charge the price for an AWD with tech is the same as last year considering that all the acurawatch features are standard now. The base trim and advance trim have gone up a bit but itís still priced very competitively.

With all these numbers you are listing I thought you'd be an expert at math and compared the German competitors on a feature basis. The loaded competitors are at least 10% more than the RDX as you stated they should be. With the Q5, GLC and X3 at least $55K-$57K. Base numbers don't count when you have to add options such as real leather, keyless go etc to get to a comparable number for the RDX.

Again, just to get the safety package on a QX50 the BASE price is $48K. That doesn't include navigation and other options you have to add to get to $60K. And the Lexus NX is a disgrace right now for what you get in that car.

I am not a fan of getting rid of the V6 either but I sure as hell didn't think the price would go down. With the exception of the Q5 I am expecting this new 3D audio system to be one of the best in class.

Thanks for the clarification and I agree 100%. Even the Tech package is a good value for the price and features.

Navigation, Leather, BSM, F&R parking sensord, ELS Audio with 12 speakers and smart entry for 4 doors. Also rear USB ports. The ELS is the first audio system upgrade before the 3D Audio.

What are you smoking? Try building a comparably equipped BMW X3 it is more expensive. For shits and giggles I built an x3 pretty darn close to the RDX tech, I was slapped with 50k pretty damn fast.

$54K for an X3 comparable to a 2019 RDX Advance.
