Looks better than the current one in hatch form, but I do not like the sedan at all.

I don't really see the resemblance to Mazda's products. The Seat is a dead ringer, but Mazda's 3 hatchback has an awkward amount of front overhang in comparison to all of them.

The hatch looks pretty nice. With the sedan, something seems a little...off.

The problem with the sedan, if you can call it that, is that the sloped roofline/glass is exaggerated so it looks short.

I think the wagon variant is pretty cool. With the CUV invasion I don't think we'll ever see it but a ST wagon would be awesome.

That fat schnoz never did anyone any favors. It only ever worked with the sedan I think.

when I first saw the photos of the wagon variant (who greenlit that nasty brown color?!?), It immediately reminded me of the (European-only) bagpuss Civic Tourer.

All of the designs are converging, as you'd expect. The fact that it's red doesn't help comparisons, either.

"Not as nice" is a lot better than "awkwardly ugly", which is the best that can be said for the Civic! I suppose it will get you noticed in a crowd.......... :)

I thought so too, looks very much like Mazda to me. Also interior wise, they took a good look at their former japanese partners.

What else? Well the derp DCT is finally gone and replaced by an proper torque converter AT again. Also Ford finally has realized the problems with particle emissions and carbon buildup - so their Ecoboost engines will get combined port & direct injection like on Toyotas. On the downside though, all gasoline engines announced at least for Europe, are turbocharged three cylinders.

Well we can count on it dominating everyone in its class when it comes to recall count.

Ford is unbeatable in that category.

The two things that struck me when reading about this car were

1. It won't be available in the US until "late 2019"
and
2. Most of the ones headed to the US will be made in China

Double ouch.

The hatch looks pretty good but isn't anything to get terribly excited about, especially over a year from now.

The sedan looks off, like a bloated Scion Toyota iA.

The wagon is a nice idea but it also looks off and I doubt that we'll get it in the US anyway.

According to this article we won't be seeing any of the Focus models pictured above.

Ford dropping all but 2 cars from its North American dealerships

Ford (F) said on Wednesday the only passenger car models it plans to keep on the market in North America will be the Mustang and the upcoming Ford Focus Active, a crossover-like hatchback that's slated to debut in 2019.

I really like how the.ST looks, I guess I'll never have a chance to drive one as I live in North America. Who knows, maybe Ford will keep the Focus alive in Canada since we tend to buy many more small cars then Americans.

Apparently Ford is no longer bringing any Focus of any kind of Canada (not even the "Active" variant). I'm not sure how many Canadians would buy a "made in China" car to begin with, but a recent statistic pegs the crossover and truck market making up 44% of Canadian volume at this point.

Since it's almost certain that most of the small cars in Canada is being bought by the Quebecois, the numbers are even more bleak for the rest of Canada. We are no longer a nation of 'small car' buyers.

I understand the sentiment, but that was once said about Japanese cars, and more recently Korean cars. I suppose it will depend on how well the Chinese understand that quality is not just lip service.
