I'm not exactly sure how often it happens, but I would estimate maybe once a year (my wife thinks more often), one of her headlights burns out. When I replace the bulb I make sure not to touch the glass. I'm buying decent Sylvania ones. I don't replace in pairs, maybe I should. Is anyone having this issue or know about it? Thanks.

It could be normal, the "better" Sylvania bulbs actually have a shorter lifespan than the cheaper ones (if that's what you're getting). The Silverstar Ultra's for example only have an estimated lifespan of 250 hrs vs 850 hrs for the cheaper Xtravisions. Counter intuitive, but higher cost doesn't actually mean longer life.

Make sure you buy bulbs with LL in their make up, LL meaning Long Life.

I think all the aftermarket bulbs are brighter and therefore will burn out faster. I used to have this problem with my Civic as well. I switched to OEM bulbs and they've lasted for many years now. Much more dull lighting, of course - but no more longevity issue. A few guys at the dealership suggested this is the case with Honda bulbs vs aftermarket, which is why I tried it, and they seem to be correct.

This may be anecdotal, but Silverstars have been pure shit for me any time I have tried them in the past. I stick to OEM now on anything I buy IF something burns out, which is really rare on OEM anyway for me.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I have purchased the Xtravision ones. But I recycled the packaging. I'll look at OEM in the future. I'm guessing Amazon is the way to go or is there a speciality webpage? Again, thanks all.

Sylvania's daylight LED was the clear winner of our heat management tests, making it the best choice for enclosed fixtures. It's also brighter and more efficient than any other daylight LED we tested.
