So you pay more money for a less rewarding car. Not for an enthusiast.

6's are naturally more refined vs I4's. That was expected but you fail to leave out other attributes that are superior to the previous car. Lighter weight, more low end grunt, superior platform architecture, more trims, more features etc etc.

The 2.0T has a balance shaft, and I have always found the 2.0 in my '06 Si to be very smooth.

Also, it seems likely that there will be power upgrades coming for the 2.0T, with Hondata probably leading the way.

There weren't too many tweaks marketed for the J35.

Yeah, but the K20Z3 is not nearly as smooth as the J35.

And there actually were enough parts for the J35 to get the power up another ~50HP or so. Beyond that there wasn't much point as the car already has some traction issues.

I am sure the new 2.0T will be a relatively good engine to extract power from though.

Slightly off topic.
Call me crazy. But, I found that the I4 on TLX is smoother and quieter than the V6.

In it's normal state of operation (VCM disengaged) there's no way the I4 is smoother. Quieter, probably, as the V6 had some issues with chirping and other noises associated with the direct injection.

Comparing the TLX 4 with the TLX V6, the differences in sound might be due to the transmissions. Our MDX sounds a little like a semi-truck when pulling away from a stoplight. And, yes, the DI clicking sound is mixed in there too.

I thought the TLX 4 loaner car I had for a day was quite a nice car.
