Very nice write-up, Jeff. Great context comparing to the current gen. (current for the next couple weeks anyway).

Any engineering/manufacturing cookies for us other than the laser brazing? Last gen. we had friction stir welding, gen. before that we had variable gear ratio steering.

I'll be interested to hear more about the 1.5T and how the new model in general compares directly to the competitors they had on hand.

I don't think there's a lot new specific to the Accord, as the chassis is based on the Civic, and so much was introduced on that one. I notice a lot of the press kit is copied from the Civic in regards to chassis and body. For example, the Accord does has the dual-pinion variable-ratio steering, but that's "old news" since it came out on the Civic.

That said, a couple of things that seem to be Accord-specific:
- An aluminum front subframe, whereas in the Civic it appears to be steel. Ditto an aluminum rear bumper beam (Civic is front-only). Accord also has aluminum lower suspension arms in the front.
- An active shutter grille (upper) on the EX and above trims.
- Noise-reducing wheels on EX and above trims (first introduced on the RL/RLX)

Thanks as always Jeff!

I look forward to your next follow up on the new Accord - whether it be a dyno or more driving impressions with more opportunity to drive and higher speed handling impressions.

Thanks, Jeff.

Looks like they've got all the basics right, this time.

Interesting how much of the 'heavier duty' front suspension is bespoke aluminium, despite a shared plank.

Square dimensions & twin balancer shafts ought to make the K20C4 rather smooth for the most part.

What's a "noise reducing wheel" and what Honda/Acura's have them? Thanks.

I enjoyed the write up too. Thank you, Jeff and team!

Thanks as always Jeff.

Also the noise reducing wheels are explained here:

http://hondanews.com/honda-automobiles/channels/accord/releases/2018-honda-accord-press-kit-chassis

I believe they debuted on the RLX.

We had a small discussion about it here:

I think the latest ILX has them now, too.
