New clutch, now stall when VSS connected?    (Score: 1, Normal) 09-02-2017 10:32

Hi all, 1st post.

I replaced the clutch in my 2009 Accord LX and all seemed well on the test drive. Then noticed no speedometer and realized I had not properly tightened the VSS screw/bolt. Did that and started back up, but when I put the car into reverse it stalled, then would only crank-no start. I went under the hood and unplugged the VSS and voila, car started and ran fine.

I figure "ok, bad VSS for some reason" and replace it. Same symptoms as before.

Also possibly unrelated, but the gauge module self test reports "ERROR 1" which is an F-CAN error, and the fuel gauge is reading inaccurately since the repair. I have a good OBDII tester and it reports the VSS error, but not the F-CAN. All other systems seem normal.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Something is plugged in wrong. Re-check any connectors you disconnected during the process and confirm that they are where they should be.

A bad VSS shouldn't cause the car to stall.

Check all of the grounds. Honda is notorious for using grounds that take the circuits for multiple systems and ground them all in the same spot, so if you have a loose or messed up ground, it can cause all sorts of weird issues.
