That's my reading of the press release. No longer any option for the 6MT on the LX and EX trims. Sad.

The Sport 2.0t is trimmed like an EX.

Accord Models and Trims
More detailed information will be provided closer to launch, but the 1.5-liter powered Accord will be available in six trims – LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring. The 2.0-liter model has four trims available, which are Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring. And the new Accord Hybrid will be available in five trims – Hybrid, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring. Sport trims for both 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engine variants will now feature available short-throw 6-speed manual transmissions.

With the LX trim gone as a choice for the 6MT, you'll now be forced to take "features" like bigger wheels (low-profile tires), sunroof, etc.

I think the base 1.5T Sport has a feature set similar to the outgoing one, but adds Sensing standard.

The 2.0T has a feature set comparable to the EX, but adds the wheels and a few other performance bits.

I'm OK with the 6MT only being available on higher level trims. If it's the opposite we'd be complaining about manual choices only in poverty spec cars.

The Canada options are probably a concession to the Quebecois, who seem to be enthusiasts of base model anything.

That is the smartest move Honda could make TBH. In this day and age the people looking for an MT aren't going to want poverty spec cars. I know I don't. I will happily take the "sportier" options along with it, because that is what I am actually looking for.

If there is a way to improve MT sales in this segment, this is it. Whether it works or not will remain to be seen. I am definitely more excited about the prospect of a 2.0T MT than a 1.5MT though.
