Let me rate those, based on exterior design alone.

BMW X1: 8/10
Audi A3: 6/10 (it's a rather old design, so it looks dated by now)
Infiniti QX30: 7/10
M-B GLA: 8.5/10
CDX: 4/10

The only vehicle I think this CDX can compete with (which I still rate the CDX higher!):

2/10 (cheap car with a bling)

The CDX does bare a strong semblance to the X1 from the side.

Although not really a competitor, the CDX looks a lot better than the Lexus NX in profile.

I'm an Audi owner and I think they're loosing the plot. This looks plain and ugly. To me the way the front grill joins with the headlights is a fail.

Not sure what the people dissing the CDX are on about. You don't like it fine, it could have a few less creases but it's compatible with the others shown on here, design wise.

I agree with that. I don't think it looks that bad at all, really.

This is by far the best angle and shot of the CDX, it's just when you pan out everything starts to go pear-shaped...that is, strange looking

I like the improvement to the headlights and the grill. Like the ZDX-like interior center console blacked out when off. Don't like Marek's insistence on the center crease on the hood and front. Like the longer hood proportions on this possibly due to A pillar design and side profile looks similar to BMW X1 which isn't a bad thing. Steering wheel is similar to NSX design which could be better. I like the cleaner, more purposeful look of Mercedes C or E class steering wheels. The CDX is a decent effort and consistent with the segment of entry level crossovers.

Wow, some of the criticism on here is pretty harsh.

My 2 cents is that the CDX while not a home run is actually not bad, and it takes the odd diamond grille and integrates it quite well, or better than I expected.

Seriously, the Q30, GLA, Q3, and especially the NX are not any better, at least not to these eyes...

The real issue for the CDX would be in a side-by-side lateral view against the HRV.

Bigger does not mean better. That grill is way to big over shadows the rest of car reminds of the beak.
2nd gen

3rd gen Simple yet aggressive barely any lines. smooth (my fav)

4th gen WTF wasnt your 3rd gen highest sales for any acura car!

4th gen closer to the acura DNA

I'm really not with you on this one. I am inclined to believe that the initial leaked (deformed) photos and the dull PR shots greatly played against your perception of this car.

Personally, whenever someone brings actual photos from the car, such as smArt did in this case, I find it quite attractive. Based on those pics alone I would actually go as far as saying that's my favorite exterior design among those "competitors". That doesn't mean it's perfect, and it sure is a bit extravagant, but so is every car in that comparison.

I wonder what the new grille would look like with the bars around the emblem like the old Acuras.
