Maybe it's just me, but I'm a bit bothered by every Acura model having a different version of the Jewel Eye. How can it be a signature look when they all light differently?

Some light all 5 as low-beam, some only light 3 as low-beam, some now have an LED strip running under the Jewels, and now the NSX has 6 Jewels where 4 light and also has an LED strip.

Not a good idea to have your 150K exotic or flagship sedan have the same version head light as your sub entry level compact.

I'm thinking in the near future all models will have the LED strip at the bottom. Refreshed models just got them and it looks like the all new NSX will have them as well. I don't think the MDX, RLX, or TLX have reached the refresh stage yet, but I'm expecting the strip when they do...though I could be wrong. It doesn't really bother me if one model has more jewels lit than the other because I don't think there are too many cars on the road with this setup just yet. Besides, the grille is enough to recognize it's an Acura. Something I should have noted earlier, it looks like the models with strip saves the two inner jewels for high beams I assume.

A lady down the street from where I live as a TLX. During the day, the upper portion of the lights are on as DRL's but at night, I only see the main sections lit and only three per side. I must add they are very brilliant in color and reach (she has been behind me before and those lights have a nice reach to the side of the road.
Anyway, my only guess is that the differences in DRL's distinguishes the cars. I can tell an ILX from a TLX just as I can tell the difference from the MDX (DRL set up like the TLX) from the RDX. RLX... that is just a whole different set up.

Tell me what luxury brand, or any brand, doesn't have some variation in headlight design from one model to another?

They do this for variation, but the design of the jewel eyes have painted them into a corner right off the bat when it comes to having more design choices. The next logical place for variation would be LED DRL strips, but Audi beat them to that punch a very long time ago.

Quite a while ago I stated that I thought is was a dead end to hinge one's down-road-graphic on a lighting array.

As if to deflect attention to suspect grille design...

Its evolving. I think the RLX's jewel eyes the first ones ever look the most BALLER! with the dual lens. Everyone else has single projectors!!!
