S-RS-M-AMG-Honda Special versions - 250M USD?    (Score: 1, Normal) 08-03-2014 04:26

What if made a special project within Honda to create a few 'special' versions of the common cars they sell now?

Accord(EU)-TLX-CRV etc.

How expensive would that be? Would 250million USD get a team of engineers and the production line anywhere? 250million would be very very little money for Hondura.

As mentioned in anohter thread, the 'halos' of Audi-BMW etc are not because only the brand has churned out the rep-mobiles (BMW 318), but some people buy the S6-RS4-M3 etc, then some buy the 335 M-sport and down the chain the mass market buys the 318 which is NOT any nicer or better than a Honda or Acura.

The problem is that Hondura has no 'nice or go fast' models. It's not enough that some TOVers say J35 has tested quick quarter miles in C&D.

So back to topic, with that 250Musd they could tune the engines, choose better chassie components and choose a steering wheel and seats for those with that fetish. Call it a TLX Sport4, let it cost 20k more than the regular most expensive TLX.

In my country the Audi S4 is not an 'everyday' car that you see every day. But those 25-40yo who buy/lease a Audi A4 1.8T 160hp s-line car dream of that S4 or hopes that their s-line car a little looks like that S4.

Honda Type-S? In my region it was only sticker tuning, it was even cheaper than the Accord 2.4 (as the type-s was sold with the weak 2.0 engine).

So again, give the engineers quarter of a billion and start to build 'semi halo' versions of your cars you want to sell.

Let's remember that the BMW 318 and 320 are really crappy-basic-weak cars but with correct parts they look a little like those expense 335-M3 that you see in magazines and successful yuppies with.

You have to build a halo version, in order to sell a semi-halo wa(ta)nabe version.

Honda seems in denial about it.
