Rolled, is there anymore news about the future of the Honda Gear concept? I recently seen an article about the Next Civic having Sedan, Coupe and Hatch variants. Is it possible that the Gear Concept sheds light on some of that or was it just a design study?

I love the Retro Honda look a lot. Would enjoy a nice little hot hatch like the Gear running around. Call it CR-G?

That way when people supercharge them in the future they can say I drive a superChaRGed CR-G and nick name them ChaRGers lol.

The gear concept was awesome.

I *genuinely* hope there is a hatch in the next Civic generation.

The Civic as of now blows, and it's nothing like the great Civic's of yore, and making it a hatch and making it drive great will go a long way to making it what it used to be.

Been hearing the Civic will have a hatch version again but not a top model. We will see!

What do you mean not a top model? Like an Type-R?

As long as an Si is offered we'll be ok. IT'S A HATCH!

Yeah, the original sporty Civic was a hatch.

Honda needs to remember that, and then remind the public.

That didn't work out too well the last time they tried an Si hatch here...I owned one, so I know.

The Si that is offered has to be a good Si, and not what we got back then and not what we have now.

This "scope" is utter nonsense.

The notion that AHMC would import tooling and production components from Great Britain in order to produce the Euro Civic in America is ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous. Who the hell in their right mind would believe such nonsense?

Well assuming the next gen hatch would be a plank relative of the ILX, they wouldn't need anything from the current UK plant.

Plus the reality of the British pound has surely fueled these ideas at Honda hq.

Lastly its almost sure the new jazz - fit plank will not be made at Swindon but at Hondas Istanbul plant.

Its not ludicrous.

The next Civic/Accord shared Platform is taking the ideas of the 70% modular FIT3 platform to the next step(even more modular). So more models off the same platform but built on the same line.

Why would they need tooling from UK?????????????????????

Who knows...maybe the new true Civic Hatchback(not Jazz) will be exported to Europe?

The Gear concept is just another Remix or Small Hybrid Sports, a design proposal.

The proportion looks best if it is really small. Minimum overhang.

It would be a disaster to build on the coming Civic platform.

In such a case, the question arises if Honda won't close down Swindon for good. No Fit3, no HR-V, no Accord and then no Civic anymore either. The few CTRs and CR-Vs that would still being made there, would hardly justify the costs keeping the plant.

Then again, it would probably also be more cost efficient to close down the Turkey plant along, and export the Fit, HR-V from China - just like what's being made with the current Jazz.

Exactly right; the Gear could be an Adam/MINI/500-type car, an N-Two, if you will.

I hope Honda doesn't run into the inefficiencies that VAG is suffering with MQB. Over-shared-plank-itis means too many design compromises for a few buttons saved. Mind you, Honda isn't gonna spin 1,000 pointless variations off their plank, unlike VAG. We'd be lucky to get a Civic & an Accord!
