Those prices sure look good. Ranging from ~$31K for the base I4 FWD to ~$45K for a fully loaded V6 with SH-AWD.

ILX wise... well.. that thing is dead for sure now.

There tip toeing down market again, the current TL tops out at 46k. I would have thought this would stretch to 50k. There is a huge gap between this and the RLX price wise.

Where Acura is brand wise right now, its one of the smartest moves they have made lately. If TLX starts out at $31K what should the ILX start and top out at?

The ILX is priced ok if they manage to fit the 2.4 into all models at MMC (allegedly planned for early next year) and dress things up a bit.

I have no issues with the base price although I do not think Acura should have went sub 30 especially with the dud ILX. The issue I have is the top end price of the TLX. They could have offered heated rear seats, sunshades, power folding mirrors, puddle lamps, power telescopic steering wheel bigger engine or more powerful and skip some of the useless safety tech and justify a 50k price tag. The RLX is not moving so if you are going to put all your eggs in the TLX basket why not aim higher. For years Acura tried to go upmarket and now they are dropping prices rather than prducing a more competitve choice. As the owner of the last two generation s of TLs, I see this more as a TSX upgrade then the TL.

Yeah, I can't see why anyone would choose an ILX, of any trim level, over a base, or slightly optioned TLX.

You can't have it July 7!

You can pre-buy it starting July 7 at a great price but will not get it until August or later.

Because it's a pretty low market and poor BMW/MB/Audi/Lexus for $50K.

TLX with SH-AWD should have the functionality and space for 5/A6/E and those starts @ just under $60K bare.

Badge whores will never shop Acura, period. That's what the A3/CLA/2 series are aiming for and they probably own a 320i in the past.

But you are right, Acura has image problem and continued to be treated as luxury car for poor people. Hence, hard to break out as a true luxury brand.

It wont be seen as an accord if its different enough. Forget the chasis sharing bs, if you build it right they will come. Doest stop the MDX from kicking ass and taking names.

The TLX Advance does not have heated rear seats, sunshades, power folding mirrors, puddle lamps, power telescopic steering wheel like some of the competitors do.

However, other than the safety features, the car comes with things such as full LED headlights, electronic gear selector, 9-speed transmission, 2nd gen SH-AWD, etc.

I disagree that TLX = Accord. The TLX has more advanced transmissions, P-AWS standard, and available SH-AWD. I think it's very likely that TLX will have far superior handling and driving experience than Accord.

Besides the differentiation of the AWD, do we think many people out there who aren't enthusiasts will care much about the transmission or the P-AWS?

Most people seem to just look at a transmission as either manual or auto (and a growing awareness that CVT is different than auto) and might notice if the auto has some paddles. They will surely notice the fact that it gets better MPG, whether or not they attribute that to the transmission is a question though.

I don't think P-AWS is something that really resonates with many people.

Just looked at full specs it at least offers led puddle lamps in the advance trim for the V6. Passenger seat goes from 8 way in the TL to 4 way though and tires shrink from 245/45 to 225/50 which would be expected due to the emphasis on fuel efficiency.

This is very much looking like a pre-release program. There is no 'build and price' feature. No 'compare vehicles' feature. No specifications or features chart by trim as is common to released Acuras and Hondas.

I'm starting to wonder if the specs on that site are legit.

Take a look at the wheel size:

245/40R19. These aren't even the Advance package wheels.

Perhaps the 18" are for the base model, and 19" will be on the V6, or Tech trim? I don't know.

I think that is a cup is half empty comment ;) , don't know if good or bad design but what is clear that Acura seem to cater more towards the 'bling' crowd than 'sports' crowd.

The same way an Audi A8 has sort of blingy details but the RS4 is detailed more with black and carbon.

I prefer the sport look but seems Honda/Acura have a focus on those with less interest in cars and more ineterest if the chrome is shiny :)

I just read through all of your messages and I can only really tell a few of you are true car enthusiast... I mean to judge a vehicle without driving it, common that is impossible.
I finally got to drive the finished product for a weekend and let me tell you, the 2.4 is a blast. Nothing like the Accord. If I treated an accord like that I would be back at the dealer wishing I had picked a different car... It puts my 2012 Accord coupe to shame. I beat it to death and it just begged for more. Acura has truly placed all their eggs in one basket on this vehicle... it shows with the pricing I think... they are nervous...

I would have like to seen more torque from the V6 but Acura is and always will be a Luxury Performance brand they focused on MPGs. The V6 does get you right off the line however. It is the smoothest V6 HONDA ever has produced... Ever! My 2012 is a 3-4-6 and you can tell and this earth dreams is great. Mated with the 9speed it is well worth the wait. You do loose a lot of the sway/sportiness I thought do to weight...Paws is amazing... you feel it take control around corners... you forget about the need for AWD and seriously... what is a WRX...lol

I really appreciated the 2.4L I have a feeling a supercharger is in the future with the 2.4L...

Less to be desired for me is the inlays... faux wood grain... I wish it was aluminum for the 2.4L and wood grain for the 3.5L, also ACRUA wow you have stepped up your leather seating...

I feel that both the 2.4L and the 3.5L will draw in all of the old Acura customers and new customers alike. They have created a car with multipurpose and will be exciting customers with a new CUV and Sports Car here in the near future. I think they are back on the right path getting back into the right market...ILX will be getting help from what I hear.. so hold on to your hats...

Thanks for your posts and insight. Can you elaborate more on this comment? It is unclear and almost seems like a contradiction; losing sway would be a good thing but not sportiness.

I hope the TLX is a great drive and that a manual transmission is added in a couple years (around the time I'll be looking to replace my latest TSX). Unlikely, I know, but I live in hope.

The TLX's competitive pricing is good news for consumers, though it may not only steal sales from the ILX on the low end, but also the RLX above it. Even if Acura puts the new nine-speed transmission in the RLX, will people pay ~$10K more than a TLX for a bit more space and 20 more HP? I'm not sure.
