I believe the JDM StepWgn could sell 50,000 copies/year in the US, if priced around $20-22K.

I've seen the latest StepWgn in person and even with its compact dimensions, it almost seems roomier than the huge US Odyssey, at least for 6 American sized passengers with luggage.

Honda could also offer a cargo version of the StepWgn to compete with Ford's Transit Connect and Chrysler's upcoming Ram ProMaster City.

Instead of another van, I'd much rather see Honda bring the Jade here as a line extension to the Civic - which does well, so not sure why they're so resistant (yes, wagon. wagon. No wagons!). But the Crosstour failed not because its a wagon but because its an awkward design. The Jade is not a Crosstour.

The other option is bring a lifestyle vehicle back. Maybe not as chunky as the Element, but definitely as targeted. The Element had its problems, but bad sales weren't one of those. It was an interesting offering and everyone I know that has one, loves it and is keeping it. Honda should be making vehicles people will want to trade into.

I wonder if anyone can comment on the Honda/Acura owner demographic, by model. I'm going to guess for the current CRV that its likely to be mostly female and 45-55 yo. Any new offerings should target those other demographic ranges. Somehow, I suspect the new Fit, the Vezel/HRV and the TLX won't do that.

We bought our CR-V in 03 because we wanted something with some extra cargo space. We liked the Element but the 2+2 seating made it a non starter. Had a Civic or Accord wagon been available we would have bought one of those instead.

I've been holding out hope for a wagon to return to the Honda lineup. Sure, there's the TSX wagon (for now) but it's expensive and likes premium gas. No thanks. I had high hopes for the Crosstour when I saw the spyshots of the wagon looking test mule but the finished product is not appealing for a number of reasons, looks not being the main one.

I've been holding out hope for a Civic based wagon and for a while it was rumored that we'd see the Stream come stateside under the name of Latitude. Sadly that never happened. I was excited when I saw the Jade but again, in the US it's not an option. If it were I would want one.

I guess that we will just have to make due with the HR-V and CR-V here. Both seem good but not exactly what I would want.

I think if we make Elysion an Acura, it would be a better choice than the StepWgn. It would sit with families who want a luxury mommy mobile, without having to step up to a full size SUV since the 3rd row, even in some full size SUVs are pretty much useless.

Mazda 5 didn't burn up the charts. It won't happen.

Lately, Nissan Rogue seems to rule the road around here and it has 7 seat option. I think that's what North Americans want.
