Installation

Tools Needed

  • 10mm socket
  • 10mm deep socket
  • Ratchet to work with above sockets
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Tool to cut fenderwell lining (plastic)
  • Jack
  • Jackstands (2)
  • Lug wrench

Installation

  1. Ensure the car is in neutral and the parking brake is set.

    Removing i-VTEC & Airbox Covers

  2. Remove the plastic i-VTEC cover by removing the (2) 10mm bolts.
  3. Remove the airbox cover.
    • Completely loosen the (5) 10mm Phillips bolts for the airbox cover.
    • Loosen the 10mm Phillips bolt for the hose clamp on the intake tube connected to the airbox until it will rotate freely.
    • Slide the valvecover breather hose off the tube at the middle of the connection. Leave the half of the hose closest to the valvecover attached to the valvecover. See picture for more detail.
    • Remove the airbox cover.
  4. Remove the intake tube.
    • Remove the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor from the intake tube by using a needle nose pliers to unclamp the hose clamp while working the sensor out of the tube.
    • Slide the vacuum hose off of the intake tube.
    • Loosen the hose clamp on the intake tube at the throttle body until it will rotate freely.
    • Remove the intake tube. An attached plastic clamp will slide off the upper radiator hose with it.

    Removing the Airbox

  5. Remove the airbox.
    • Loosen and remove the (2) gold-colored 10mm bolts and (1) gold-colored 10mm nut.
    • Remove the gold-colored 10mm bolt from the intake breather at the front of the car.

    Entire OEM Intake Removed

  6. Jack the front of the car and securely support it with jackstands. Remove the front driver's side wheel.

    Fenderwell Lining

  7. Remove the front driver's side fenderwell lining.
    • Remove the (9) clips (pic of clips) located around the wheel well by using a small flathead screwdriver to slightly pop-out the center head, and then pull the entire clip out. One of these clips is recessed and located under and just behind the front bumper, making it a bit difficult to remove
    • Remove the (7) Phillips screws. Two of these screws are located under and just behind the front bumper.
    • Remove the fenderwell lining.

    Removing the Washer Fluid Reservoir

  8. Remove the power connectors from the washer fluid pumps. This is done by pressing the clip release on the plug, located on the colored (blue and brown) plug, closest to the front of the car. Do NOT remove the clear/off-white clips from the top of the colored plugs.

    Draining the Washer Fluid

  9. Place a bucket under the washer fluid pumps and remove the feeder lines from the washer fluid pumps by gently rotating and wiggling them off. This will allow the washer fluid to drain from the reservoir.
  10. Remove the washer fluid reservoir.
    • Remove the (3) 10mm bolts, one on the bottom, one at the front just behind the bumper, and one at the rear of the reservoir.
    • Slide the upper fill tube up and out as you are removing the fluid reservoir.

    Washer Fluid Pumps

  11. Remove the fluid pumps from the reservoir by gently wiggling and sliding the bottoms out from the tank, then sliding them down and off the tank.
  12. Remove the (3) black O-rings from the factory fluid reservoir and insert them into the new DC Sports reservoir in their respective locations.
  13. Insert the fluid pumps into the new fluid tank in the reverse method as removed (slide the top of the pump into the groove, then slide the bottom into the O-ring). The pump with the parallel plug pins goes at the back of the reservoir, the perpendicular pins at the front. Ensure the pumps are securely inserted into the O-rings.
