From the article: He will need to tap additional talents now. Named last week to succeed Hiroyuki Yoshino as president and CEO in June, he takes the helm of a company that is stumbling at home and becoming ever more dependent on its U.S. arm.
Even if the U.S. market holds steady, Honda faces tougher competition from its Japanese rivals in America. Toyota Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co. have been aggressively opening North American plants and launching models into previously untapped segments.
Fukui is expected to rely on Koichi Amemiya, 62, executive vice president, to oversee Honda's U.S. operations, as Amemiya has for more than 10 years. But analysts wonder how long Amemiya will be around to support the new president.
